Question description

Mark 5: 9 - 11

9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”

“My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.

11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside.

As Jesus is the Son of God, doesn't he supposed to know the spirit's name? Does Jesus's action - asking the spirit's name - has any significant reference to how we pray for deliverance from the devil?

Answer description

When Jesus asked the demoniac, "What is your name?" Reading the text carefully we notice Jesus was speaking to the man. Jesus did not speak to the spirit. However, the spirit overtaken the man to reply Jesus. So to your question why did Jesus ask for the spirit's name? Jesus didnt.
